Ali Nitti RDN, LD NSAND Treasurer-Elect Hobbies: running, exercising, cooking, baking What do you do in the field of dietetics? I am currently an inpatient Clinical Dietitian at Alexian Brothers Medical Center Did you always know you wanted to be a dietitian? Yes. I actually decided in high school that I wanted to pursue a career in nutrition. What inspired you to have a career in nutrition? My mom. She went and saw a dietitian for nutrition education when I was in high school. She said the RD reminded her of me and that it seemed like a job that would be a good fit for me. After that, we started researching accredited universities so I could pursue a career in this field. I enrolled in a nutrition class and really enjoyed learning about the science of food. Being an athlete in high school I enjoyed being able to learn about food as fuel and how it would affect and my performance. Where did you complete your internship? Solmaz Institute Lenoir-Rhyne University Distance Education Dietetic Internship What is your favorite memory from your career thus far? Passing the RD exam. Which area of dietetics do you like or have considered switching into that is different from your area of practice? 1:1 Nutrition coaching or corporate wellness. Are you a member of any Dietetics Practice Group (DPG) or member interest group (MIG)? Yes- I am currently a member of SCAN (Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition). What's a fun fact about you? I love to run! I have run 5 half marathons What is your favorite food? Pizza and peanut butter. What's your favorite dish to cook?
